RMS THEATRE COURSES

RMS Theatre courses have three different varieties:

6th Grade Theatre, Theatre Electives, and Theatre Performing Group.

All courses are graded using the RMS Theatre Rubric (see below.)

6th Grade Theatre

  • Semester long class (Prescheduled)

  • Explores a variety of theatre areas including:

    • Creating Characters

    • Stage Movement

    • Script Writing

    • Directing

    • Improv

    • Tech Theatre

    • Film Production

    • Musical Theatre

    • Play Performance

Theatre Elective Offerings

  • Each quarter, 2-3 of the following are offered for students to select:

    • Acting
    • Behind the Scenes

    • Broadway Dance

    • Costume Design

    • Film Production

    • Improv

    • Murder Mystery Theatre

    • News Crew

    • Stage Makeup​

Theatre Performing Group

  • Semester long class (Prescheduled)

  • Students apply to be part of this class at the end of 6th or 7th grade for the start of the following year.

  • We work on more advanced acting skills through the preparation of scenes and songs for a Theatre Showcase performance in January.

Participates in few or no activities. Consistently unengaged or off task.

Application

Consistently gives more than is asked. Is willing to take risks and try new things.

Works to apply and improve skills throughout activities and projects.

Demonstrates leadership. Offers help and support to others in the class. Offers detailed feedback in a positive and constructive manner.

Works well with teammates. Offers positive feedback and support to classmates.

Gives the minimum effort required for an activity. Hesitant to try new things or work to improve skills.

Often does not finish activities or projects. Does not follow directions fully.

Willing to work with others but is either not consistently contributing or not allowing others to contribute. Only gives feedback when prompted.

Often unwilling to work with others. Does not give feedback or gives it in a way that is not respectful or constructive.
